Russia-Africa Summit to convene in Moscow to deepen ties

The third Russia-Africa Summit is scheduled to take place in Moscow on October 28–29, 2026. Hosted by President Vladimir Putin, the event aims to strengthen economic, security, and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and the African continent. The summit is expected to include more than 30 heads of state and government, with 48 African countries having confirmed participation.

Key objectives for the summit include the adoption of a new action plan for the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum for the 2027–2029 period and the signing of various intergovernmental and commercial agreements. Priority discussion topics include trade, investment, food security, peaceful nuclear energy, digital technology, and artificial intelligence. The plenary session is expected to be co-chaired by President Putin and the current African Union chair, Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye.

In conjunction with the summit, several related events are taking place, including the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, a media forum, and a youth forum. Ghanaian President Mahama has arrived in Moscow with the intention of using the summit to advocate for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war, while Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has also arrived for the proceedings.
