Russia-Ukraine war enters phase of attrition

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has entered a phase of attrition, characterized by a stabilized front line where significant territorial breakthroughs by either side are unlikely. However, analysts suggest Russia has not responded positively to this proposal. The effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes on the Crimean Bridge and various vessels has reportedly created supply crises in Crimea, affecting access to food, water, and fuel, while also driving a mass departure of Russian tourists from the peninsula.

Politically, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy maintains significant domestic popularity, with support levels estimated at over 60 percent, despite ongoing challenges regarding internal corruption. Meanwhile, the Russian leadership shows no clear signals of readiness for peace negotiations or a ceasefire, as the Kremlin appears to be prioritizing its established war goals.
