Russia-Ukraine war: heavy strikes cause civilian casualties and infrastructure damage

Intense aerial combat and strikes have resulted in significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage across Ukraine. In the Sumy region, Russian bombardments killed a 63-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy, while four others sustained serious burns. The attacks impacted 28 locations, damaging homes, vehicles, warehouses, and electrical grids.

In the Kyiv region, Russia claimed a successful drone strike using Geran-4 Seeker drones against a military logistics center in Brovary. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces conducted a raid on the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, which resulted in the death of one child and eight injuries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that intelligence indicates Moscow is preparing a major offensive for the autumn following parliamentary elections. On the Russian side, Dmitry Medvedev asserted the right to attack merchant vessels deemed to be in the interest of the enemy. Total casualties from Russian strikes across Ukraine in a 24-hour period reached eight dead and 57 injured, with heavy impacts reported in the Odessa and Sumy regions.
