Russia unloads military material in Libya near EU southern border
Satellite imagery from the American firm Vantor reveals that approximately 3,000 tons of military material were unloaded in Tobruk, eastern Libya, in mid-September. The location is situated less than 1,000 kilometers from Italy and less than 400 kilometers from Greece, placing the activity near the southern borders of the European Union and NATO.
Reports indicate that Moscow is actively recruiting drone pilots for operations in Libya, offering a 26,000 euro premium. The military supplies are reportedly being sent to the Haftar clan, which controls eastern and southern Libya, including critical oil and gas fields. This expansion of Russian military influence in the region has significant implications for European security and Italy's geopolitical position.
