Russia unveils Citadel anti-aircraft missile system

Russia has introduced a new anti-aircraft missile system named ‘Citadel’. The system is designed to intercept various aerial threats, including strike drones, heavy unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles.

According to reports, the Citadel can operate as a standalone unit or as part of a multi-layered air defense network. By intercepting unmanned aircraft, the system is intended to reduce the operational load on heavier air defense systems, allowing them to focus on higher-priority targets. The system features automated target recognition and trajectory calculation capabilities that take only a few seconds. It is also capable of self-correcting its aim if an initial projectile misses its target, with reports indicating that a maximum of four hits is typically required to destroy a single target.
