Russia warns of German nuclear weapons ambitions

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia is concerned about reports that Germany intends to acquire nuclear weapons, describing the prospect as "truly worrying." His remarks came after the Russia‑ASEAN ministerial meeting.

A Dutch‑language report echoed the claim, stating Russia argues Germany could build a nuclear bomb within a year and warned that German defence firms face heightened risk of Russian espionage and sabotage.

The statements raise diplomatic tensions between Moscow and Berlin and highlight proliferation worries in Europe.
