Russian attacks across Ukraine kill dozens and injure many

Russian forces carried out multiple strikes in Ukraine, causing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. In the Odessa region, two people were killed and several houses and cars burned, prompting President Zelenskyy to call for a swift EU sanctions package and faster weapons deliveries. In Sumy, a drone attack on a multistory building injured six residents, including four children, and sparked a large fire that damaged emergency vehicles.

In the southeastern city of Saporischja, a Russian airstrike using guided bombs destroyed two floors of a five‑story residential block, killing at least two people and wounding 42 others, eight of them children. The attacks underline the ongoing devastation of the four‑year‑long war.

Separately, the International Monetary Fund cleared an immediate disbursement of about $690 million to Ukraine under its $8.1 billion loan program, noting that while Ukraine’s financial stability remains intact, the war and related infrastructure strikes are worsening economic prospects.
