Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv kill six; Ukraine hits Russian oil depot

In the night of 20 July 2026 Russian forces launched glide‑bomb attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv. Two people were killed and 42 injured in Zaporizhzhia, including eight children, after bombs struck a five‑storey and a nine‑storey residential building and damaged a logistics terminal. In Kharkiv and 23 nearby settlements, four people were killed and 48 wounded, among them a one‑year‑old child, as Russia used heavy artillery rockets, missiles and drones.

Ukrainian forces responded with a drone raid on Russia’s Moscow region, targeting an oil depot and a logistics centre near Podolsk, about 40 km south of the Kremlin. Video posted on Russian Telegram channels showed a dense black plume of smoke over the depot. The attack also sparked fires at a Wildberries warehouse in Kolyedino and at other logistical sites in Domodedovo and Belye Stolby. Moscow’s mayor Sergey Sobyanin said more than 400 Ukrainian drones were launched toward the capital, with 85 intercepted.

The fighting underscores the ongoing intensity of the Ukraine‑Russia war, with civilian casualties rising and both sides extending strikes beyond their own territories.
