Russian attacks kill Ukrainian family, alleged North Korean missile used

A Russian offensive on the night of 30 July 2026 struck multiple Ukrainian cities. In Kryvyi Rih, a family – a couple and their three children – was killed, while two other children were rescued from the rubble. Overall, eight civilians died in attacks reported in Kyiv, Poltava and other locations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a ballistic missile of North‑Korean origin (identified as a KN‑23 or KN‑24) hit a house in the village of Radushne, Dnipropetrovsk region, killing five members of another family. This would be the first confirmed use of a North‑Korean missile by Russia in almost a year. Ukrainian air defences shot down 55 missiles and 265 drones, but intercepted only one of nine ballistic missiles. Zelensky blamed delayed Western delivery of Patriot air‑defence systems for the difficulty in stopping the strike. Russia justified the raids as attacks on military facilities, while the civilian toll drew renewed international condemnation.
