Russian airstrikes cause civilian deaths in Ukraine

Entities: Volodymyr Zelensky · Kryvyi Rih · Radushne · Volodymyr Zelenskyy · Rozyon Miroshnick

Overview

The large‑scale Russian air campaign of 29‑30 July 2026 continued to inflict heavy civilian casualties. Ukrainian officials confirmed that more than 70 missiles and over 280 drones were launched, killing at least eight civilians—including a family of five in Kryvyi Rih—and injuring more than 50 people across Kyiv, Poltava, Lviv and other regions. In the Dnipropetrovsk oblast, a ballistic missile identified as a North‑Korean KN‑23/KN‑24 struck the village of Radushne, killing five members of another family; this marks the first verified use of a North‑Korean missile by Russia in almost a year. Ukrainian air defences reported downing 55 missiles and 265 drones, intercepting only one of nine ballistic missiles, and President Zelensky blamed delayed delivery of Patriot systems for the shortfall.

Russia maintained that the strikes targeted military facilities and reiterated accusations that Kyiv was deploying anti‑personnel and drone‑delivered “flower‑petal” mines in the Luhansk People’s Republic, labeling the alleged use a serious military crime. The attacks provoked renewed international condemnation and renewed calls for additional Western air‑defence assistance.
