Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv kills at least nine, injures dozens

Russian ballistic missiles hit Kyiv and its surrounding region overnight, killing at least nine people and wounding dozens. The attacks caused a massive fire in a six‑storey building in the Solomiansky district and prompted air‑raid alerts across the capital.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the acquisition of additional air‑defence systems, while Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on residents to remain in shelters. Ukrainian officials highlighted a shortage of Patriot interceptor missiles needed to counter such strikes.

The assault follows a series of recent Russian missile attacks that have also claimed lives in other Ukrainian cities, underscoring the ongoing intensity of the conflict.
