Russian ballistic missile strikes kill seven in Ukraine, prompt Polish air defense deployment

Russian ballistic missiles hit several Ukrainian cities on Thursday, killing at least seven people, including one civilian in Kyiv and multiple casualties in Lviv and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown of Kryvyi Rih. The attacks were identified as direct hits from an Iskander‑M system launched from Russia's Voronezh region.

In response to the strikes that reached the western city of Lviv, Poland deployed combat aircraft to safeguard its airspace. Zelenskyy, returning from a visit to the United States, said Donald Trump had agreed to grant Ukraine licenses for Patriot air‑defence missiles, underscoring the need for allied protection.
