Russian Banderol rockets hit Ukrainian ports; Kyiv fields STASH system

The Russian Armed Forces have been employing low‑cost Banderol rockets to strike Ukrainian Black Sea ports, especially Odesa, which serves as a major grain export corridor. The rockets, priced at $150,000‑$300,000 each, carry a 150‑kg warhead, have a range of only a few hundred kilometres and are launched from ground launchers and UAVs. Their speed and maneuverability make them difficult for Ukrainian air‑defence systems to intercept, and they account for about 80 % of attacks on Odesa’s port facilities.

In response, Ukraine’s 208th Anti‑Aircraft Missile Brigade has demonstrated a mobile STASH air‑defence system mounted on a pickup truck. The system combines a RADA radar with AGM‑114 Hellfire missiles to engage the fast‑moving Geran‑4 stream‑driven drones, which can reach speeds of 300‑500 km/h—far beyond the capability of conventional interceptors. The STASH setup aims to protect critical infrastructure from these new Russian drone variants.
