Russian Disinformation Campaign Targets Ukraine-Poland Ties, US Warns of War with Russia

Ukrainian officials say Russian intelligence is preparing a disinformation operation that will circulate fabricated records about the World War II‑era Volhynia tragedy. The plan, overseen by FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov, aims to reopen historic wounds and strain the strategic partnership between Kyiv and Warsaw. In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha travelled to Warsaw with an “anti‑crisis” package and proposed joint consultations and historian cooperation to counter the false narrative.

U.S. commentators linked to intelligence circles argue that the intensifying Ukraine war could spill over into a broader European conflict. Citing recent Russian statements and analysis by Michael Kofman, they contend that Russia is reconstituting its forces and will remain the primary security threat in Europe, urging Washington to prepare for a possible war with Russia.
