Ukraine conducts deep‑range drone strikes on Russian military sites and Caspian Sea oil platform

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on 25 July 2026 that Ukraine’s defence forces carried out extensive long‑range drone operations up to about 1,200 km inside Russia. The strikes hit a weapons‑component plant in Kirov, an oil refinery in Tyumen, a logistics hub in Yekaterinburg and a fuel depot in Rostov‑on‑Don, as well as a S‑400 radar and Tor‑M2 air‑defence system in Rostov.

In the Caspian Sea, SBU‑operated drones damaged the Russian offshore oil platform Filanovsky and hit a missile‑boat and two cargo vessels that transport military cargo from Iran, all of which are under international sanctions. The operation marks the first confirmed Ukrainian attack on Russian offshore oil infrastructure and extends Kyiv’s targeting doctrine well beyond the front line.

Russia simultaneously launched a massive drone and missile barrage against Ukraine, deploying 157 attack drones and two Kh‑59/69 guided missiles. Ukrainian air defences intercepted 127 drones and one missile, while 26 drones struck nine locations in the Poltava region, damaging two gasoline stations and a fire‑department building. Two civilians were killed and several injured in Sumî and Zaporozhye. The Ukrainian military warned that a larger Russian attack could follow within 48 hours.
