Ukraine War Escalates: Russian Gains and Ukrainian Long‑Range Strikes

Russian military officials announced the capture of several settlements in eastern Ukraine, including Krasny Liman, Piskunovka, Myrne and progress near Kramatorsk, saying the “liberation of Donbass and Novorossiya” continues. Simultaneously, Ukrainian drones struck two Russian logistics centres, killing at least eight people.

Ukraine reported a wave of ballistic missile and drone attacks on its cities, with strikes on Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and others that left at least eight civilians dead and dozens injured. A Russian drone also hit a food‑production facility in Zaporizhzhia, wounding four workers. On the Russian side, a Ukrainian drone attack on a bus in Russia’s Belgorod region killed five, including a child.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had carried out long‑range strikes on logistics installations and an oil depot in the Moscow region, as well as seizing two tankers and four cargo ships in the Black Sea. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledged that the United Kingdom will continue “100 %” support for Ukraine.
