Russia captures Dobropolye in Donetsk as Putin announces new security zone

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russian forces have captured the strategic city of Dobropolye in the Donetsk region. During a meeting with General Staff Chief Valeriy Gerasimov and other military commanders, Putin stated that the capture of Dobropolye is a significant development that opens a direct route toward the administrative borders of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Putin provided updates on territorial control, claiming that the Lugansk People's Republic is entirely under Russian control. He estimated that Ukrainian forces maintain control over approximately 10% of Donetsk and 16.5% of the Zaporizhzhia region. Additionally, he noted that since September 1, Russian forces have seized 92 localities and over 1,800 square kilometers of territory.

Regarding border security, Putin emphasized that Russia is establishing a security zone along the border to prevent future incursions, citing the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region. He explicitly stated that the creation of this security zone will not be a subject of any future peace negotiations with Ukraine. Putin also ordered continued coordinated attacks against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and logistics infrastructure in response to strikes on Russian energy and industrial sectors.
