Ukrainian drone strikes kill three in Moscow region and ignite fire in Stavropol

Ukrainian long‑range drones hit the Moscow region overnight on July 12‑13, 2026. Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported three people killed and three injured when a drone crashed in the village of Pionersky, Istra district, and two more injuries after a drone struck an apartment block in Solnechnogorsk. Russian air defences shot down 81 unmanned aerial vehicles in the Moscow area, while the Defence Ministry said more than 340 drones were intercepted across the country.

In the southern Stavropol Krai, a drone attack ignited a fire in an industrial zone in the village of Viazniki (Spakovsky district); regional governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed the blaze but reported no casualties. The wave of attacks also caused damage to residential buildings and sparked fires in other industrial sites.

President Vladimir Putin warned that any Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory would be met with a “much stronger” response, promising retaliation “several times more powerful.” The drone campaign, which has increasingly targeted Russian energy infrastructure and refineries, continues amid diplomatic talks in Paris among Ukraine’s allies.
