Ljudmila Turkova murder in Belgrade, body found in suitcase

28‑year‑old Russian citizen Ljudmila Turkova Konstantinova disappeared in Belgrade after sending a last message to her mother on 25 July 2026. Her body was discovered on 31 July 2026 inside a suitcase that had been thrown into the Vizelj canal near Padinska Skela.

Serbian police suspect Turkish national K. E., a 25‑year‑old, who allegedly lured Turkova to a rented apartment in the Borča district on the morning of 26 July 2026, strangled her with a piece of clothing, placed the corpse in a suitcase and carried it to the canal. He was arrested at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport while attempting to leave the country. A police dog, Aki, located the suitcase. The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered up to 48 hours of police detention and is seeking pre‑trial custody for the serious murder charge, which carries a potential sentence of more than ten years.
