Russian troops seize most of Kostiantynivka and push toward Kramatorsk, Sloviansk

Russian forces have taken control of the majority of Kostiantynivka in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, opening a direct route toward the larger cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. Russian artillery, drones and air‑strikes continue to pound the city, while isolated Ukrainian units remain in southern and western pockets of resistance.

Ukrainian analysts describe the situation as a “critical loss” that could destabilise the entire Donetsk front. They note that the Russian advantage in firepower makes it difficult for Ukrainian troops to halt the advance, and that supply lines for the defenders are being strained.

At the same time, U.S. officials have publicly claimed that “Ukraine is winning the war,” and Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated there was no agreement between President Putin and former President Trump on the conflict. These statements contrast sharply with on‑ground reports of Russian gains and the ongoing humanitarian impact on civilians in the occupied areas.
