Ruta 115-CH Internacional Pehuenche closed due to weather

Authorities in the Maule Region of Chile have announced a new closure on the Ruta 115-CH Internacional Pehuenche. Starting Monday, August 24, 2026, at 09:00, all vehicle circulation will be restricted from kilometer 104 in the “El Médano” sector up to the International Border.

Regional Presidential Delegate Juan Eduardo Prieto stated the measure is a preventive action due to forecasted adverse weather conditions in the mountain sector. The closure aims to ensure traveler safety and allow emergency and conservation teams to operate. The Dirección de Vialidad is currently performing maintenance work from kilometer 100 toward the border, and the Pehuenche Provisional Border Complex at kilometer 138.2 remains temporarily closed.

Drivers are advised to plan trips in advance, carry snow chains, drive defensively, and remain alert to heavy machinery and animals on the road.
