Rwanda defeats Liberia 3-1 in AFCON 2027 qualifier

Rwanda defeated Liberia 3-1 in a Group K match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers held at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Abeddy Biramahire opened the scoring for Rwanda in the 2nd minute. Leroy-Jacques Mickels added a second goal in the 33rd minute, before Liberia’s Sylvanus Nimely responded with a goal in the 38th minute. Rwanda secured their victory before the interval when Joy-Lance Mickels converted a penalty.

Liberia faced further challenges in the second half when Kpah Sherman received a red card in the 61st minute, leaving the team to finish the match with ten players.
