Robert Kabera, Rwandan critic, found beheaded in Uganda

Robert Kabera, a 50-year-old former Rwandan army sergeant major and prominent critic of President Paul Kagame, was found beheaded near Kampala, Uganda. His body was discovered by local residents in Luwala village, approximately 45 kilometers outside the capital, over the weekend. Ugandan police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke stated that while the body has been found, the victim's head has not yet been recovered.

Kabera, who had sought asylum in Uganda after fleeing Rwanda, was a well-known YouTuber and musician. His channel, Major Robert TV, had over 144,000 subscribers and featured content critical of the Rwandan administration. His brother, Victor Agaba, suggested the killing could be linked to political issues in Rwanda, noting that Kabera had previously been accused of sexual assault—a charge he denied—and described the Rwandan military's actions against him as a “witch hunt.”

The Rwanda National Congress (RNC), an exiled opposition group, has demanded a full investigation and called for those responsible to be brought to justice. The killing has renewed fears among Rwandan dissidents living abroad regarding their personal safety. The Rwandan government has not issued a public response to the incident.
