Ryanair commits €100 million to Abruzzo hub and eyes Sarajevo growth

Ryanair announced a €100 million investment in the Abruzzo region of Italy, doubling its base at Pescara Airport to two aircraft and expanding its network to 19 destinations. The plan adds five new routes – to Breslavia, Cagliari, Kaunas, Milan Malpensa and Valencia – and introduces daily flights to Torino and increased frequency to Milan. The expansion, scheduled to start in late March with peak operations by June, is expected to create up to 950 jobs in the region.

Separately, Sarajevo Airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that it is preparing a joint announcement with Ryanair on further network development. Ryanair, which began operations in Sarajevo in March 2024, currently serves eleven destinations and is regarded as “one of the region’s most successful examples of low‑cost aviation development”. The airport aims to expand its destination portfolio and will issue a tender for new routes covering 2027–2029, with plans to finalise details for the 2026/27 winter season.
