Ryanair expands operations in Memmingen and Rimini

Ryanair is significantly expanding its presence at two key European locations: Memmingen Airport in Germany and Fellini Airport in Rimini, Italy.

At Memmingen (Allgäu Airport), the airline is stationing a fourth aircraft to take advantage of low infrastructure costs. This expansion will introduce new summer 2027 routes to Sevilla, Castellón, Varna, and Rimini, following the addition of winter destinations like Catania and Tirana. The airline expects passenger numbers to grow by 21 percent this winter.

In Italy, Ryanair is investing approximately 200 million euros to establish a new base at Rimini's Fellini Airport for the summer 2027 season. This project includes 17 routes, 114 weekly flights, and is expected to create over 500 jobs. Local business representatives, such as Confartigianato Imprese Rimini, view the move as a strategic opportunity for the Romagna region, noting that the airport's tourist focus complements larger hubs like Bologna Marconi.

These expansions contrast with Ryanair's recent withdrawal from other German markets, including Berlin BER and Bremen, where the airline cited rising costs and high taxes as primary reasons for reducing its presence.
