Ryanair tightens checked baggage deadlines starting November 10

Ryanair is implementing stricter baggage drop-off deadlines across its entire network starting November 10. Passengers traveling with checked luggage must now drop off their bags at least 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Previously, the deadline was 40 minutes before departure.

The airline stated that this change is intended to ensure passengers have sufficient time to clear security, undergo passport control if necessary, and reach their boarding gates, particularly at busier airports. Passengers who miss this new 60-minute cutoff may be unable to check their luggage, and the airline is not obligated to provide free rebooking for subsequent flights.

This policy change specifically affects passengers with checked baggage. Those traveling exclusively with hand luggage who have already completed online check-in are not affected and can proceed directly to security. Additionally, Ryanair plans to introduce self-service baggage drop technology at most airports by the autumn of 2026 to streamline the process, though the 60-minute deadline will still apply.
