Rybnik and Katowice advance participatory budgeting projects

Cities in the Silesian region of Poland are advancing their participatory budgeting processes for the current year.

In Rybnik, 44 projects have successfully passed the substantive evaluation stage and are cleared for public voting. These include six proposals intended to impact the entire city. Eight projects were rejected, though authors have until August 25, 2026, to file appeals with the Mayor of Rybnik.

In Katowice, 214 projects have been verified for the 13th edition of the city's participatory budget. Out of 268 original submissions, approximately 80 percent were approved, consisting of 24 city-wide projects and 190 district-specific proposals. These initiatives cover various sectors, including infrastructure, lighting, sports, senior activities, and animal welfare. Residents in Katowice will vote in September to determine which projects receive funding.
