Poland reports surge in criminal activity and dangerous driving

Poland has seen a series of criminal incidents involving theft, drug trafficking, and dangerous driving. In the legal sphere, prosecutors in Nowy Sącz have charged four individuals with over 300 offenses related to the illegal trade of opioids and benzodiazepines, including money laundering. Additionally, a Lithuanian gang specializing in stealing Korean-brand cars was dismantled by Warsaw police, with the gang leader and an accomplice facing arrest.

Road safety remains a major concern as multiple incidents of driving under the influence were reported. These include a driver reaching speeds of 220 km/h while intoxicated, a tractor driver carrying a 10-year-old child with nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in his system, and a driver who struck a bus carrying 50 passengers. Other notable incidents include a 43-year-old driving a excavator into a ditch while intoxicated and a 19-year-old crashing a car into a ditch before fleeing to his home.

Property crimes also persist, with police apprehending five individuals for home burglaries near Będzin and arresting four suspects for stealing electrical equipment and gym gear from a warehouse in Rzeszów. In Białystok, municipal monitoring successfully helped locate a missing 13-year-old girl.
