Iraklis defeats MZT Skopje 64-59 in FIBA Europe Cup opener
Iraklis secured a 64-59 away victory against MZT Skopje in their FIBA Europe Cup opener. Jalen Le키u led the Greek side with 18 points, including a crucial basket in the final seconds to seal the win.
The match was overshadowed by political tension after MZT Skopje fans displayed a nationalist banner featuring a map that included Greek territories, specifically Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki. The Iraklis management filed an official complaint with FIBA and notified the Greek embassy in Skopje regarding the incident.
Despite a late surge from MZT, including a run that brought them within one point, Iraklis maintained control for much of the game to secure the away win.
