Saab secures major defence contracts in Germany and Canada

Swedish defence firm Saab signed a contract with German shipbuilder TKMS to supply combat system and sensor equipment for four new MEKO A‑200 frigates ordered by the German Navy. The €790 million deal includes Saab’s 9LV combat system, Sea Giraffe radars and other sensors, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2032. The frigates are intended to boost anti‑air, anti‑submarine and anti‑surface capabilities in the Baltic and North Atlantic.

Saab also reached a memorandum of understanding with Canadian training company CAE to provide advanced pilot training, mission‑systems engineering and sustainment support for the Gripen E fighter, should Canada select the aircraft for its future air‑force capability. The agreement aims to establish a sovereign Canadian training ecosystem, create high‑value jobs and keep critical mission‑system data under Canadian control.
