Saada: Houthi militia arrests traffic police employee
Houthi intelligence services have arrested Adel Daghar Al-Awairi, a traffic police employee, in Saada governorate. Local activists report that Al-Awairi was taken to an unknown location without official charges or clarification regarding his detention.
The arrest follows social media posts in which Al-Awairi criticized the performance of the Houthi-appointed governor of Saada, Mohammed Jaber Awad. In his posts, Al-Awairi highlighted the deterioration of essential services in the province, including electricity, water, health, roads, and internet connectivity, describing the local administration as a “history full of failure and shortcomings.”
Some activists suggest the detention may also be linked to Al-Awairi’s demands for the release of a friend, Aqeel Al-Qalil. Local activists and traffic police colleagues have launched a solidarity campaign demanding that the Houthi security apparatus disclose his whereabouts and release him immediately.
