Saanich hosts 10th annual Tripleshot CrossFondo cycling event
The 10th annual Tripleshot CrossFondo took place on October 18 at Layritz Park in Saanich. The event brought together 290 cyclists, ranging in age from 11 to 81, to participate in a community ride through the backcountry of Saanich and Highlands.
Riders chose between 25-kilometre and 45-kilometre routes. According to organizer Joanna Fox, approximately 80 per cent of the paths utilize trails and private property to minimize traffic risks. The event is designed as a community ride rather than a competitive race, meaning no official times are taken.
The CrossFondo serves as the Tripleshot Cycling Club’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds are used to support grassroots programs and keep youth cycling fees affordable, specifically funding certified coaches for approximately 25 to 30 children aged 11 to 17 each year.
