Sabiha Gökçen Airport sets record daily passenger traffic
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has set a new historical record for daily passenger traffic. On Sunday, August 16, the airport served 180,914 passengers across 958 flights, marking its highest daily performance to date.
In addition to passenger numbers, the airport broke records in several other categories, including international arrivals and departures, domestic traffic, and total international flight volume. The facility also reached a new peak for aircraft serviced via passenger boarding bridges (PBB), handling 218 planes compared to the previous record of 212.
Hanita Ahmad, Managing Director of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, stated that surpassing the 180,000 passenger threshold is a clear indicator of strong demand and operational capability. She emphasized the airport's focus on maintaining a seamless customer experience and its vision to become a regional transfer hub.
