Sacheon and Hwaseong prepare for upcoming national sports festivals

Local governments in South Korea are intensifying preparations for upcoming major sporting events. In Sacheon, approximately 3,000 citizens participated in the ‘2026 Sacheon Citizen Health Walking Festival’ on September 5. The event was held to commemorate the joint hosting of the 67th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival by Sacheon, Namhae, and Hadong, while also advocating for the early enactment of the Aerospace Complex City Construction Special Act.

Meanwhile, Hwaseong City held a general meeting of the National Sports Festival Hwaseong Special City Promotion Committee on September 7. The meeting focused on ensuring the successful hosting of the 108th National Sports Festival and the 47th National Para Sports Festival in 2027. Key discussions included strengthening public-private cooperation, organizing citizen cheering squads, and reviewing organizational restructuring to enhance citizen participation and support for the upcoming competitions.
