Sacyl declares 22 hard-to-fill medical positions in Castilla y León

The Regional Health Management of Castilla y León (Sacyl) has announced its first declaration of 22 medical positions classified as ‘hard-to-fill’ across seven hospitals in the region. This pioneering measure, based on Law 3/2025, aims to ensure equitable and quality healthcare by addressing structural shortages of specialists.

The vacancies are divided into two primary specialties: Anesthesiology and Reanimation (12 positions) and Otorhinolaryngology (10 positions). The Anesthesiology roles are distributed among hospitals in Ávila (3), El Bierzo (4), Miranda de Ebro (2), Aranda de Duero (1), and Segovia (2). The Otorhinolaryngology roles are located in El Bierzo (3), Palencia (4), Soria (2), and Miranda de Ebro (1).

To fill these roles, authorities are initiating negotiations for an extraordinary voluntary mobility procedure, which is expected to conclude by March 2027. If positions remain vacant, they will be filled through a specific merit-based selection process for new hires. The initiative follows a pilot study designed to distinguish between structural shortages and temporary staffing gaps.
