Safe Road project launches national road safety education in Italy
The “Safe Road” national educational project has been launched to promote road safety across Italy for the 2026/27 school year. Developed by the Fondazione Lorenzo Guarnieri ETS and the Fondazione Claudio Ciai ETS, the initiative provides free training tools for high school students and educators.
For students, the program offers a 30-hour e-learning course that qualifies as School-Work Training (Formazione Scuola-Lavoro). The curriculum covers mobility history, regulations, psychological factors influencing driving behavior, prevention strategies, and the role of technology in infrastructure and sustainable mobility, such as cycling and public transport. It also connects road safety to professional career guidance in urban design and technological innovation.
Educators and teachers can access a 40-hour training course recognized by the Ministry. The project is supported by the Metropolitan City of Florence through its 2025 road safety funding. The initiative aims to foster a culture of mutual respect and responsibility, treating roads as shared public spaces rather than individualistic environments.
