Safe Staff, Safe Venues wins Good Food Guide award

Safe Staff, Safe Venues has been named the Cultural Change Champion at the 46th Age Good Food Guide awards. The initiative, launched in June 2025 by the Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC), aims to address systemic issues within the hospitality, arts, and events sectors.

The program focuses on creating safer workplaces by providing employees with the knowledge and collective support needed to combat exploitation and unsafe cultures. It specifically targets workers at higher risk, including women, gender-diverse individuals, international students, and those on temporary visas.

The award follows investigations into sexual harassment and gender-based violence within the Australian hospitality industry. Carolyn Dunbar, the VTHC Women’s Team lead, stated that the recognition supports their mission to achieve long-term, systemic change.
