Safety initiatives promote smoke and carbon monoxide detector use in Poland
Local authorities and volunteer fire departments in Poland are conducting safety campaigns to increase awareness of fire and carbon monoxide risks. In Mikułowice, the Volunteer Fire Department (OSP) organized an educational meeting to teach residents about the dangers of heating devices and the importance of detectors. As part of the ‘Detector on Guard of Life’ project, funded by the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Self-government, firefighters provided free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to residents who previously lacked them.
In the Połaniec municipality, officials have issued an appeal for residents to check the battery status of smoke detectors. Following a large-scale distribution of 4,300 devices in 2025, the municipal office warned that depleted batteries could prevent devices from functioning during a fire. Residents are advised to perform regular tests and replace batteries as necessary to ensure early warning capabilities.
