Thailand Board of Investment partners to upgrade EEC infrastructure
The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) has signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with four major agencies to develop water and electricity infrastructure in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). This initiative aims to resolve investment bottlenecks and support the region's goal of attracting 2.6 trillion baht in investment.
The project focuses on ensuring a stable supply of industrial water and electricity for high-value industries, such as advanced manufacturing and data centers. Key partners include the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), which is exploring the implementation of Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and expanding the “Arc Grid” to provide green energy in line with the nation's 2065 net-zero emissions target.
To address climate change and drought risks, plans include constructing large-scale desalination facilities and water pipelines throughout the corridor. The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) will also collaborate to facilitate infrastructure connections for both existing and new industrial zones.
