The Confederation of Sahel States (AES) has launched its first ordinary session of the Confederation Parliaments in Niamey, Niger. The session, which includes 45 deputies from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, aims to establish a common institutional framework for the three nations. The assembly has adopted its internal regulations and established three specialized commissions: Defense and Security, Diplomacy, and Development.

Key agenda items for the parliamentary sessions include police cooperation, intelligence sharing, the free movement of people and goods, and the economic models and viability of regional media. Ousmane Bougouma, President of the AES Confederation Sessions, emphasized that the parliament is intended to be an effective institutional tool for addressing regional political and geopolitical issues rather than a mere prestige institution.

In addition to parliamentary developments, the AES is organizing its first Confederation Youth and Volunteerism Forum in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from August 28 to 30. Approximately 1,000 young people are expected to participate in the forum, which focuses on the role and responsibility of youth in consolidating the confederation.
