SAIC forecasts 190,000 vehicles from Ferrol plant as Stellantis pivots to Leapmotor in Zaragoza
S&P Global projects that SAIC Motor’s new factory in Ferrol, Galicia will produce more than 190, 000 vehicles by 2031, with output rising from 34 000 units in 2029 to over 200 000 in subsequent years. The plant will assemble three models – a B‑segment car starting in 2029, two C‑segment models beginning in 2030, and a high‑volume model from 2031 onward – and is expected to create at least 2 000 jobs in the region.
Meanwhile, Stellantis’s Spanish output has fallen, with its Zaragoza plant reporting a 12.4% drop in the first half of 2026. Production will resume on 24 August with the Leapmotor B10 electric SUV, part of a joint venture that could see annual capacity of about 208 000 EVs and an investment of roughly €200 million. The shift aims to make Zaragoza a key European hub for the Stellantis‑Leapmotor alliance.
