Stellantis Europe restructuring and market share
Entities: Stellantis · Free2Move · Mutares · SAIC Motor Corporation Limited · Ferrol
Overview
In July 2026 Stellantis Spain posted a net profit of €156.6 million, a 78 % drop from the previous year, while revenue edged up 1.2 % to €15.7 billion. Production at Vigo, Zaragoza and Madrid fell 2.2 % to 959 000 units and the workforce was trimmed by 550 employees through voluntary exits, yet a €704.4 million dividend was approved. The group’s European market share slipped to 13.6 % in June, lagging a market that grew 13.1 % year‑on‑year. Stellantis lifted total sales 5.3 % to 191 012 vehicles, with Fiat gaining ground while Alfa Romeo fell 17.3 %. Concurrently, the €60 billion FaSTLane 2030 plan was unveiled, promising more than 60 new models, the STLA One platform from 2027, €6 billion of annual cost savings by 2028 and an operating‑margin target of 8‑10 % by 2030. Q2 2026 results showed revenue up 13 % to €43.48 billion, driven by a 32 % surge in North‑American Ram pickups and higher‑margin Jeep models. Adjusted operating profit rose to €773 million but the margin stayed around 1.8 %, and shares fell 4.3 % after the report. In line with FaSTLane, Stellantis sold its entire stake in the Free2Move car‑sharing unit to Mutares, exiting the shared‑mobility business. UBS downgraded Stellantis to a neutral rating and cut the 12‑month target price by roughly 40 % to €5.80, citing weak North‑American margins, high inventory levels and the risk of production curtailments in the third quarter. The bank trimmed its adjusted operating‑profit outlook to €3 billion for 2026 (1.9 % margin) and €4.7 billion for 2027 (2.9 % margin). In August 2026 Mutares, a German private‑equity firm, agreed to acquire the whole Free2Move car‑sharing business, covering its fleet in 14 European and U.S. cities.
