SAIC Motor sees overseas sales surge 49% amid shifting domestic demand
SAIC Motor reported a 7.7% year-on-year decline in September vehicle sales, totaling 406,000 units. Despite this, the company saw a 49.1% surge in overseas sales during the month, reaching 150,000 units. Its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales rose 18.7% in September to 225,000 units.
In the broader Chinese NEV market, Xiaomi Auto recorded 17,600 orders during the week of September 28 to October 4, representing an 8% increase. Other notable market movements during this period include BYD leading with 62,300 orders, a 3% increase, while Tesla and MG saw significant order growth of 41% and 34%, respectively.
