SAIGONTEL consortium plans $3.5 billion AI data center in Tay Ninh
A consortium consisting of Saigon Telecommunication Technology JSC (SAIGONTEL), World Harmony, and SAIF Eagle II has expressed interest in developing an artificial intelligence data center complex in Tay Ninh Province, Vietnam. The project is planned for the Nam Tan Tap Industrial Park, covering an area of 20 hectares with a target total IT capacity of 200 MW.
The first phase of the project involves an investment of $3.5 billion (approximately 91 trillion VND) to achieve a 100 MW capacity. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2027.
Dang Thanh Tam, a key figure in the project, described these facilities as ‘AI Factories’ rather than simple storage units. He noted that attracting such projects could create a ‘local export’ model, bringing continuous international cash flow into Vietnam by providing infrastructure for global clients, thereby shifting the economic focus from traditional manufacturing to high-quality digital services.
