SailGP announces Hong Kong Grand Prix and American Express sponsorship

American Express has been named the title sponsor for the inaugural Hong Kong Sail Grand Prix, which is set to take place on January 23–24, 2027, at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. This event will mark the opening of the 2027 Rolex SailGP Championship season.

The upcoming period presents a demanding schedule for professional sailors, as the SailGP circuit overlaps with the 38th America’s Cup. Following the Hong Kong event, the SailGP circuit is scheduled to move to Fremantle, Australia, for the Australia Sail Grand Prix Perth on February 20–21, 2027. Other scheduled SailGP locations include San Francisco and Bermuda.

The America’s Cup schedule includes preliminary events in May 2027, the Louis Vuitton Cup starting in late June, and the main America’s Cup Match beginning in mid-July 2027. The high density of competing events across both series is expected to place significant pressure on crew concentration and physical readiness.
