Sailing competitions in Hong Kong

Overview

Hong Kong has hosted various sailing events involving both professional and youth competitors. In October 2026, the region saw the conclusion of the 2026 Hong Kong Optimist Open and National Championship at Clear Water Bay Country Club, featuring 118 youth sailors. Concurrently, the China Coast Sailing Race hosted by the Hong Kong Yacht Club concluded near Lamma Island, with the vessel ‘Witchcraft’ winning its category for the sixth consecutive year.

Looking ahead to the 2027 season, the SailGP circuit has announced the inaugural Hong Kong Sail Grand Prix, scheduled for January 23–24, 2027, at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. American Express has been named the title sponsor for this event, which will serve as the opening of the 2027 Rolex SailGP Championship season.
