Saint Francis of Assisi 800th anniversary commemorations in Italy
Italy marked the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi with several cultural projects. Consulting Art Srl announced a limited‑edition artist book titled *San Francesco d’Assisi. Un giovane Santo di 800 anni*. The volume, limited to 256 hand‑crafted copies, features a Murano glass cover, a medal from the Antica Zecca di Lucca, and contributions from scholar Mons. Felice Accrocca, historian Francesco Gallo Mazzeo and sculptor Alessandro Romano. Production involved multiple Italian artisans, and the international distribution will be handled by Sofy Gallery in New York.
In Monza, the Casa della Poesia hosted a literary‑philosophical event on 27 June. Philosopher, anthropologist and writer Pierfranco Bruni led a discussion titled “Il Cantico dell’Amore sui passi di Francesco, dalla Parola al Mistero”, accompanied by readings and a choir performance. The program examined Franciscan ideas of simplicity and ecological stewardship, linking them to contemporary challenges.
