Tekirdağ-Muratlı highway crash kills three after trailer detaches

A trailer (dorse) broke free from a truck traveling the Tekirdağ‑Muratlı highway near Yeşilsırt Mahallesi, İnciröbekleri at about 01:30 a.m. The detached trailer blocked the road, causing a chain‑reaction collision involving three following vehicles. The crush trapped driver Ferit Baldız, 50, his daughter Gizem Baldız, 17, and Buse Naz Çiçek, 16, inside a light‑commercial vehicle (plate 59 AOJ 243). Despite rescue efforts by fire, health and gendarmerie teams, all three died at the scene. The stretch of road was temporarily closed and security measures were put in place. Prosecutor Oğuzhan Tekin and gendarmerie investigators conducted an on‑site inquiry, and a broad investigation has been launched to determine why the trailer detached. The incident forms part of a recent series of TIR‑related accidents in Turkey, including a separate crash in Adana that claimed two lives, bringing the total fatalities from the two incidents to five.
