Sakarya Municipality Boosts Transport Safety with Bus AC Inspections and Road Markings
The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality has stepped up summer safety measures for public transport. Inspection teams from the municipal police and transport directorate examined city and inter‑district buses, verifying that air‑conditioning systems remain operational during the hottest hours. Faulty units were recorded and operators were warned not to switch off the climate control, aiming to protect passengers from extreme heat.
In parallel, the municipality’s Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Directorate has been repainting road markings across all 16 districts. Using thermoplastic and cold‑paint applications, the works enhance the visibility of lane lines, intersections, pedestrian crossings and rural routes, with an average use of five tonnes of paint per day. The continuous effort seeks to improve traffic safety and driver awareness while minimizing disruption to daily commuting.
