Sakarya starts 45‑km water pipeline linking Ballıkaya Dam to Sapanca Lake

Mayor Yusuf Alemdar announced the commencement of the first shipments for a 45‑kilometre water conveyance line in Sakarya. Steel pipes are being delivered to the Hızırilyas Water Treatment Plant site, where excavation, back‑filling and construction will follow. The project includes 90 water‑related structures and a 22,500‑cubic‑metre reservoir, intended to secure the region’s future water supply. Alemdar highlighted the line’s role in extending the lifespan of Sapanca Lake by feeding it from the Ballıkaya Dam, emphasizing its national importance amid global water‑crisis concerns. The works are coordinated by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) and Sakarya’s water and sewerage authority (SASKİ).
